New Article: Enabling Custom Authentication for SharePoint 2007

Posted on 7/26/2006 @ 7:06 PM in #SharePoint by | Feedback | 1797 views

Sharepoint 2003 had a serious OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder). It was nuts about Windows Authentication, and thats about all it cared about.

This is a serious limitation that Sharepoint 2007 gets around.

So here is a new article talking about how you can enable custom authentication in Sharepoint 2007, and the practical sides of it - including how you deal with that in your development environment.

Hope you like it.

Sound off but keep it civil:

Just as a small addition regarding the SharePoint Designer-Problem. In Beta2 this also affects all WebServices!

BUT, I got word (namely my bug in the betaplace) that both issues will be fixed in Beta2 TR

connex,

Could you elaborate more on the specific details of your bug? I find it hard to beleive that they will rewrite MS-Word to make it work with all kinds of custom membership providers :). I do feel however that they could have provided a mechanism to specify alternate credentials for client integration, but at this time it would be really difficult to add that in.

Anyway, I'm just curious about the specifics of your bug.
